Value of ECV quantification in PAH: correlation with echocardiographic, MRI and serum biomarkers
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background The evaluation of right ventricle (RV) function is paramount in pulmonary hypertension (PAH) although it can be difficult to assess. Right ventricular myocardial fibrosis assessed using late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) has been correlated with right ventricular function and prognosis. Myocardial fibrosis can be evaluated by several methods, including LGE, ECV quantification using native and post contrast T1 mapping sequence and serum markers of collagen turnover. Value of ECV quantification and it’s correlation with other biomarkers has not been systematically assessed during PAH. The goal of that study is to compare ECV, echo longitudinal strain, and serum markers of collagen turnover in the assessment of myocardial fibrosis in a population of adults with PAH.

Comparative Assessment of Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) and Cystatin C as Early Biomarkers for Early Detection of Renal Failure in Patients with Hypertension
Background: Hypertension is one the most common causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD). One of the major concerns in hypertensive patients is early detection of renal disorders. In the past, serum creatinine (Scr) concentration was used as a marker of kidney function, but it proffers a late reflection of reduced glomerular filtration rate. Cystatin C and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocal...
متن کاملCorrelation between Heart and Liver Iron Levels Measured by MRI T2* and Serum Ferritin in Patients with β-thalassemia Major
Background Transfusion-induced iron overload leads to many complications in patients with β-thalassemia major. This study aimed to compare the level of iron stored in the liver and heart measured by MRI T2 * with ferritin levels in these patients. Materials and Methods This study was done on 52 patients with β-thalassemia major aged 7 to 29 years. Serum ferritin level was checked and heart and ...
متن کاملThe Relationship between Serum Pro‐Brain Natriuretic Peptide (Pro‐BNP) Levels and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) in Patients with Limited Scleroderma
Introduction: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a late progressive sclerodermarelated complication, which can lead to right heart failure and cor pulmonale. Given that cardiac catheterization is a diagnostic method of choice for PAH, and considering the high risks of this method, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between serum Pro‐Brain natriuretic peptide (Pro‐B...
متن کاملEvaluation of changes in excision cavity volume during whole breast irradiation using secondary CT image
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the reduction in excision cavity volume (ECV) during the whole breast radiotherapy (WBRT). The delineating of reduced cavity volume on secondary CT (computed tomography) might decrease the field size of boost plan. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients were treated having breast conservative surgery. At first, primary CT simulation (CT-1) was d...
متن کاملAssociation between serum ferritin level, cardiac and hepatic T2-star MRI in patients with major β-thalassemia
Background Frequent blood transfusion is often associated with iron overload. Proper use of iron chelators to treat iron overload requires an accurate measurement of iron levels. Magnetic resonance T2-star (T2* MRI) can measure iron level in the heart and liver. Our goal was to see whether an association exists between serum ferritin level and T2* MRI in patients with major beta thalassemia. ...
